THE WATCHFUL STEWARD

Created for the Elizabeth River Project’s Ryan Resilience Lab, The Watchful Steward is an homage to the coastal life and environmental restoration efforts of the Chesapeake Bay region. With its poised stance and alert gaze, the sculpture embodies both strength and watchfulness. Hand-sculpted from molten glass and anchored in reclaimed local materials, the piece reflects the mission of the Lab: to protect, restore, and live in harmony with the river.

Generously commissioned and donated to the Elizabeth River Project by Carolyn and Dick Barry
